The office of High Sheriff of England and Wales is one of the oldest secular appointments in the country. The High Sheriff plays an important role in supporting the Crown, the judiciary and the wider justice system, while also championing the work of the emergency services, voluntary organisations and community initiatives, particularly those focused on crime prevention and supporting vulnerable people.
